Spreadsheets are how many customers, suppliers and colleagues share data. Orders arrive as workbooks, price lists come from suppliers in their own layouts and stock counts live in tabs. Moving that information into an accounting system or online store by copy and paste is slow, and one misplaced column can spoil a whole import.

How it works
How the Excel integration works
Step 1: Pick up the workbook
The workflow collects the file from a folder, an SFTP server or an email attachment, ready for the Excel tasks to read.
Step 2: Read or convert
Choose the Excel Repeater for row-level actions, the Worksheet Repeater for multi-tab files, or convert the sheet to CSV or XML for bulk processing.
Step 3: Map to the target
Column names are mapped to fields in the destination, often through an XSLT Transform that builds Zynk XML for Sage, Shopify or your CRM.
Step 4: Import and archive
The connector for the target system imports the records, successes and failures are logged, and the processed workbook can be moved or archived so it is never imported twice.

Can Zynk import an Excel spreadsheet into Sage?
Yes. Zynk can convert a worksheet to XML, transform it into the Zynk XML format and import it into Sage 200 or Sage 50 UK. Alternatively, the Excel Repeater runs an import for each row, such as creating a customer or an order.
Do I need Microsoft Excel installed to use the Excel connector?
From Zynk v2026.6.1 onwards, the Excel connector needs no additional software to read workbooks. Earlier versions used a Microsoft database engine package that Microsoft no longer supports, so we recommend upgrading if you are on an older release.
Can Zynk process every worksheet in a workbook?
Yes. The Excel Worksheet Repeater loops through the sheets or tabs in a single workbook and runs the same tasks for each one. That suits files where each tab holds a different branch, month or supplier.
Should I convert Excel to CSV or XML?
Use CSV for flat data such as a simple price or stock list, where each row stands alone. Use XML when the data feeds a structured import, because it can be transformed with XSLT into the formats Zynk's connectors expect.
Can Zynk read Excel files sent by email or uploaded to SFTP?
Yes. The Email connector can save attachments from a POP3 mailbox and the SFTP connector can download files from a server. The Excel tasks then read the workbook in the same workflow, so nobody has to save files by hand.
Can I choose which rows of a spreadsheet are imported?
Excel To CSV lets you set a start and end line, so header blocks or totals can be skipped. Within the Excel Repeater, conditional tasks can check values in each row and act only on the ones you want.
Which systems are Excel files usually imported into?
Any connector that imports data can take spreadsheet content. Sage 200 and Sage 50 UK suit orders, customers, stock records and prices, Shopify and Magento suit product data from supplier workbooks, and Salesforce or HubSpot suit contact lists prepared in Excel.
