Shiptheory Integration

Zynk's Shiptheory integration links Shiptheory's multi-carrier shipping software to the accounting, ERP and ecommerce systems where your orders start. Allocated orders and despatch notes become Shiptheory shipments without anyone retyping an address, and booked shipments return with their tracking numbers to Sage, Shopify, Magento or BigCommerce. It suits warehouses and online sellers who despatch with several carriers.

Benefits

Why businesses connect Shiptheory

Shipments created from your orders

Sales orders from Sage or web orders from your store are imported into Shiptheory as shipments, with the delivery address, products and order reference carried across. Packers print labels instead of copying details from one screen to another.

Tracking numbers sent back

Once Shiptheory books a parcel with the carrier, Zynk exports the shipment with its tracking number and updates the original order, so staff in Sage and customers in your store can both see what has gone out.

Despatch recorded in the accounts

Completed shipments can mark Sage 50 sales orders as despatched or create goods despatched notes in Sage 200. Stock and order status in the ledger then reflect what has physically left the warehouse, not what someone remembered to update.

Delivery services mapped once

Zynk exports your Shiptheory delivery services and package sizes, so each shipping method or carrier code in your other system can be matched to a valid Shiptheory service. When you add a service later, it can be read and mapped the same way.

Your shipping rules still apply

Orders that reach Shiptheory without a delivery service are handled by the shipping rules you already set up there. Zynk supplies the order details and leaves carrier choice where you configured it, unless you prefer to set the service from Sage.

The problem

Why integrate Shiptheory?

Shipping software only pays off when orders reach it cleanly. Without integration, someone exports orders from the store or Sage, uploads them into Shiptheory, then types tracking numbers back once parcels leave. Each handover is a chance to ship to an outdated address or leave a customer asking where their order is.

Without integration

  • Orders exported to a spreadsheet and uploaded to Shiptheory several times a day
  • Tracking numbers copied from Shiptheory into each order by hand
  • Sage orders left open long after the parcel has gone
  • Store shipping options that match no Shiptheory delivery service
  • Customer service checking three systems to answer one delivery query

With Zynk

  • Orders arrive in Shiptheory as shipments on the schedule you choose
  • Shipments and tracking numbers flow back to the system that took the order
  • Sage orders are marked as despatched from Shiptheory shipment data
  • Delivery services and package sizes are exported and mapped once
  • Order, despatch and tracking details sit together in the source system

How it works

How the Shiptheory integration works

  1. Step 1: Link Shiptheory and your order source

Zynk connects to your Shiptheory account through its API and to the Sage company, ERP or online store that holds your orders. You decide which orders qualify, for example fully allocated sales orders or despatch notes.

  2. Step 2: Match services and packages

Zynk reads your Shiptheory delivery services and package sizes. You map them to carrier fields, shipping methods or analysis codes in the other system, so each shipment carries a valid service or falls through to your Shiptheory rules.

  3. Step 3: Create shipments

Workflows import qualifying orders into Shiptheory as shipments, each with a reference that ties it back to the original order. Your team then prints labels in Shiptheory exactly as it does today.

  4. Step 4: Return the results

On a schedule, Zynk exports completed shipments and writes tracking numbers and despatch status back to Sage, Shopify, Magento or BigCommerce, raising an alert for any order that could not be matched.

Shiptheory and Sage 50 UK

Send fully allocated sales orders from Sage 50 to Shiptheory for labelling. When the carrier booking completes, the order in Sage 50 gets its tracking number and is marked as despatched.

Shiptheory and Shopify

Shopify orders become Shiptheory shipments without an export file, and each booked shipment returns to Shopify as a fulfilment so the shopper receives tracking from the store they bought from.

Shiptheory integration FAQs

Can Shiptheory integrate with Sage?
Yes. Zynk has ready-made templates for Shiptheory with Sage 50 UK and Sage 200. Allocated orders or despatch notes are sent to Shiptheory as shipments, and once each parcel is booked the tracking number and despatch status are written back to the matching Sage order.
What is Shiptheory used for?
Shiptheory is shipping software that takes orders from sales channels and ERPs, books them with carriers such as Royal Mail, DPD, DHL, UPS and FedEx, and prints the labels. Its shipping rules can pick the carrier and service for each order automatically.
Is there a Shiptheory API that Zynk connects through?
Yes. Shiptheory offers a REST API for booking shipments, viewing and searching them, and listing the delivery services and package sizes on your account. Zynk works with that API on your behalf, so there is no code for your team to write or maintain.
How do Shiptheory tracking numbers get back to my online store?
After Shiptheory books a shipment, Zynk exports it with its tracking number. A workflow then updates the original order, for example as a Shopify fulfilment or a Magento shipment, so the customer sees tracking through the channel where they placed the order.
Can I keep using Shiptheory shipping rules with Zynk?
Yes. When an order reaches Shiptheory without a delivery service, Shiptheory applies your rules to choose one. If you would rather set the service in your own system, Zynk maps your carrier codes or shipping methods to Shiptheory delivery service IDs instead.
Which Zynk products work with Shiptheory?
Shiptheory is available in Zynk Workflow, our low-code builder for tailored integrations, and in Autopilot, our no-code option for linking sales channels with accounting. We will suggest the better fit once we know which systems and order volumes are involved.
How quickly can a Shiptheory integration go live?
Projects that start from the Shiptheory to Sage 50 UK or Sage 200 templates can go live in days. Set-ups with several order sources, warehouses or custom service mapping take longer, and we agree the plan with you before any build begins.
