Field Service Management

ServiceM8 Integration

Zynk's ServiceM8 integration connects the job management app used by trade and field service businesses to the accounting systems behind it. Built on Zynk Autopilot, it needs no code: you link ServiceM8 to Sage, Xero, QuickBooks or FreeAgent, agree with us what should move between them, and the office stops retyping work your engineers have already recorded on site.

Benefits

Why businesses connect ServiceM8

No code to write

Zynk Autopilot is a no-code service, so connecting ServiceM8 to your accounts is a set-up task rather than a development project. There is nothing for you to build or host, and Zynk maintains the connection.

Beyond the built-in add-ons

ServiceM8's own accounting add-ons cover Xero, QuickBooks Online and MYOB. Zynk gives businesses that run Sage or FreeAgent, or that need ServiceM8 data in more than one place, a way to connect too.

Office and field on the same page

Engineers record jobs, quotes and payments in the ServiceM8 app. Connecting it to your back office means the accounts team works from what actually happened on site, not from notes handed over at the end of the week.

Less admin after every job

Each job that has to be retyped into the accounts costs office time and delays the invoice. Removing that step frees the office to schedule the next job instead of copying details from the last one.

Scoped to your process

Before anything is switched on, the Zynk team confirms which ServiceM8 records your finance process relies on and where each should land, so the integration reflects how your business actually invoices.

A team that knows the accounts side

The Zynk team specialises in connecting business systems to accounting packages, so they understand nominal codes, tax treatment and customer accounts as well as the ServiceM8 side of the job.

The problem

Why integrate ServiceM8?

ServiceM8 keeps work moving in the field: quoting, scheduling, job notes and invoicing all happen in the app, and clients can pay online. The accounts usually live somewhere else, and when the two are not connected someone in the office copies the same details again, which slows invoicing and invites mistakes.

Without integration

  • Job and client details typed into the accounts a second time
  • Invoices raised days after the work was finished
  • Office staff checking two systems to answer one customer query
  • Built-in add-ons that do not cover your accounting package
  • Integration ideas shelved because they seemed to need a developer

With Zynk

  • ServiceM8 data reaches the accounting system without rekeying
  • Finance keeps pace with the jobs your engineers complete
  • Office and field teams work from the same information
  • Sage and FreeAgent users connect through Zynk Autopilot
  • A no-code Autopilot set-up, handled with the Zynk team

How it works

How the ServiceM8 integration works

  1. Step 1: Tell us how you work

Start with a short conversation about how jobs become invoices in your business, which accounting system you use and what the office retypes today. That conversation sets the scope of the connection.

  2. Step 2: Connect both accounts

Authorise Zynk to access your ServiceM8 account and your accounting system. ServiceM8 provides an API for third-party apps, so the connection runs directly between the two systems.

  3. Step 3: Check the results

Test jobs run through first, and you compare what appears in your accounts with what was recorded in ServiceM8 before anything goes live.

  4. Step 4: Let Autopilot run

Once you approve the results, Autopilot keeps the systems connected in the background, and the Zynk team is on hand if your process or accounting setup changes.

ServiceM8 integration FAQs

What is ServiceM8?
ServiceM8 is job management software for field service and trade businesses such as electricians, plumbers and cleaners. Teams use it to quote, schedule and record jobs, send invoices from site and take payment online by card or Apple Pay.
Doesn't ServiceM8 already connect to Xero and QuickBooks?
ServiceM8 has its own add-ons for Xero, QuickBooks Online and MYOB. Zynk suits businesses using an accounting package outside that list, such as Sage or FreeAgent, or those whose data needs to reach more than one system or follow rules the standard add-ons do not cover.
Is there a way to connect ServiceM8 to Sage accounts?
Yes, through Zynk. ServiceM8's built-in accounting add-ons do not include Sage, so Zynk Autopilot provides the link to Sage Accounting or Sage 50. The records involved and how they post are agreed with you during set-up.
How does Zynk talk to ServiceM8?
ServiceM8 publishes a REST API for connecting third-party apps, and Zynk uses it once you authorise access to your account. You give that permission during set-up, and the Zynk team handles the technical side of the connection from there.
Do I need technical skills to use the ServiceM8 integration?
No. Autopilot is Zynk's no-code product, so there is nothing to program. You authorise access to ServiceM8 and your accounting system, confirm how records should be treated, and the Zynk team takes care of the technical set-up and testing.
Which accounting packages work with ServiceM8 via Zynk Autopilot?
Zynk works with accounting packages including Sage Accounting, Sage 50, Xero, QuickBooks and FreeAgent. During scoping we confirm that your package, edition and process are a good fit before anything is set up, so there are no surprises later.
What data moves between ServiceM8 and my accounts?
That depends on how your business works, and it is agreed with you before set-up. ServiceM8 holds clients, jobs, quotes, invoices and payments, and we confirm which of these your accounts need, in which direction, and how each should be coded.
Can ServiceM8 data reach more than one system?
Yes, where your process needs it. Some businesses want ServiceM8 information in their accounts and in a CRM or reporting tool as well. Zynk can design the connection around that, and the scope is agreed with you up front.
